Antalya Golf Club (Pasha) – Review and Rating

While The Pasha is about 700 meters shorter than the PGA Sultan they are quite similar in all other respects. You might even call it ”Sultan Light” – basically the same type of holes in the same general configuration, just slightly shorter and a bit easier setup.

The tree-lined fairways are of the same high quality, the green areas are similarly bunkered and undulated, just a little bit easier. The fact that many of the holes are a bit shorter than on Sultan just means that you’ll have shorter approach shots, and, for many of us, just a little bit more fun. While you may come away from Sultan with a sense of accomplishment (or not), when you are done playing The Pasha you are likely to be in a good mood.

To further give you a sense that this is an easy course, the front nine has three par threes, and on top of that a couple of short par fours. Maybe the best, and also the most beautiful, hole on the front is the par-three 5th hole. It is only 110 meters, but your tee shot is almost entirely over water, with a green bordering a lake. A nice stone wall finishes the beautiful setup.

Other than the fifth there’s not much water in play on the front nine.

The back nine is a different story. Two large, centrally located lakes come into play on several of the holes. The first encounter is on the 11th, where water runs along the fairway all the way up to the green. If you play the back tees, your tee shot will also be over water.  The second large lake first comes into play on thirteen, a par five, this time running along the right-hand side. Since it is a dogleg right, water is very much in play if you try to reach in two. The hole is aptly named ”Dilemma,” and is one of the best holes, maybe the very best, on the course.

On the fifteenth hole, you encounter the same lake again, this time running along the left side of the fairway. The fairway is quite narrow as you approach the green, so precision is of the essence.

Your last encounter with the lakes is on the short, only 117 meters, 17th hole. Here the green juts out into the lake, adding a bit of excitement and difficulty for any golfer terrified of the water. A very nice par three.

As we mentioned before, as you arrive back at the clubhouse you’re likely to be in a good mood. You have just experienced a very nice golf course with all the features of a championship golf course, just laid out in a slightly easier fashion. A perfect companion to the punishing PGA Sultan.
